a sweet apple story

My family considers this short story to be both sweet and funny. It's something we've shared and laughed about for years. I think you'll like it.

Many years ago, my sister was shopping with mom at Waccamaw (anyone remember Waccamaw?) They separated. When my sister caught up with mom she was going through a large barrel of plastic apples, picking one up and setting it back down while adding a few to her cart. My sister asked why she was being so selective with the apples.

Mom replied that some of the apples were .99 and some were marked .66.
She was making sure that she only purchased the .66 apples.

(I photographed the very apples this past week. Mom proudly kept them - a testament to her wonderful sense of humor.)
