well this sucks

You'll totally relate to this. As women, we don't GO to the doctor. We send OTHER people to the doctor. I would rather clean 1000 100 10 toilets than sit upon that paper covered table. Then the worst happened.

ouchie2

Mr. W told me he would not show pity until an official diagnosis was made and my sister, Dr. Anne, didn't count. So I went. Milking injury pain is what I do best, people!

You know all of those handbags I've been making? It's pure addiction and, well, let's just say I ignored the pain in my arm (and hand and shoulder) a little too long. I have an impressive case of tendonitis. I cried and screamed, refusing to give up my obsessions, until the doctor caved and said that two weeks may work if I do physical therapy. Really? Seriously?

My first appointment is Friday and I'll be taking Aleve like a 95 year old tennis player.

So, no more bags. Except for the two I HAVE to finish today. And blogging must be limited to pictures. Impossible. My middle name is Wordy!

I'll still read. And peck away with my left hand. But responding to comments will have to be at an all-time low. (I'll sneak a little...with my left hand)

What else will I be doing? I picked up some light, summertime reading - on HTML, CSS, and XHTML - real nail biter stuff.

Oh, and feel free to pray for my arm or do some sort of voodoo that works as opposed to the kind that makes my arm fall off.

Until then dear pals, buds, compadres...until then.

  7. Oh my goodness! I am so sorry to hear you are down for a bit! I am wishing you a speedy recovery. I finally went to my doctor and he took me off work for a while because I ignored the pain a little too long also. So if you want someone to commiserate with, please let me know. 8. Ouch and I know just how much that ouch hurts. If it's any consolation at all, the tennis and golf elbow I developed simultaneously a couple of years ago has only minor flare ups now. A couple of weeks of rest really, really got it on the mend. So listen to the doc, a very hard thing to do, and it will settle. The reading you've selected sounds absolutely perfect. It would put me in nap mode straight away. A perfect way to rest the elbow.

  9. Little Horse wouldn't mind coming over so you can use his head as an arm rest in between PT sessions. At least it is only two weeks and not longer!

  10. Acupuncture? Just another version of voodoo in my mind but I can't argue with the results :)

Don't try to rush your return though, no matter how much you start jonesing for a handbag fix!

  11. So sorry to hear this - but think of all those fresh ideas crammed in your brain when you are let loose on the sewing machine in a couple weeks? My recommendation for therapy - a large glass of wine lifted by the good arm :-)

  20. Lori, Don't even talk to me about shoulder pain! After two rotator cuff surgeries that caused a total redirection in career path, I'm free from pain. Actually, I guess the shoulder deal had a silver lining ... it's the reason I'm making jewelry instead of pottery! P.S. Love your hair cut!

  21. good luck, i hope that the pt helps. i have tendinitis in both shoulders and it's no fun.

  22. Oh no! I hope you heal quickly - I have never had tendonitis, but I know a lot of violinists who have and it is not fun. Maybe try drinking tart cherry juice for the inflammation as well.
