earth shattering, life or death kind of questions

If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him. ~John F. Kennedy

Wha? Where's the question???

If you haven't already guessed, it has to do with following. Thinking about making a few changes and I'd REALLY love your opinion. My changes have to do with blog platforms, websites, and shops.

I'm thinking of moving my blog from Blogger to Wordpress and adding a shop to that site (in addition to my Etsy shop). My question for you is two-fold. First, will you follow? And second, would you buy from another location or are you strictly an Etsy shopper?

I'm adding a poll to the sidebar to answer the first question since you may feel more comfy answering anonymously. The second? Just give me your .02 in the comment section.

Thanks, and here's another...

Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls.

  1. I don't care where a blog is located as long as it is easy to read and get updates from and two if I like a product and I can use paypal (or make my mom) then I will buy it doesn't matter where it is being sold.
    Just my 2 cents :-)

  3. I haven't been able to comment today on blogger..others have had trouble too. Soooo, my advice is dump Blogger and go anywhere else and I will follow. I am going to look into getting my own website because I don't like being at the mercy of a place that can shut my blog life down. For some reason it looks like I may be able to comment here..hummm?

  4. I'm curious why to would move to wordpress. Does it have advantages that blogger does not? I have been asking myself the same question. At what point in time do I create more a a web site that people can purchase items as well.
Since I follow your blog I would follow you to wordpress, if you blogged about the items you would be listing in your own shop I would be willing to buy them there. But if there was a lot of inventory in both shops it might be inconvenient to check both of them out on a regular basis.

  6. Sorry, you're stuck with me too! My daughter used wordpress, I hear it's harder, (that's why I can't go yet). I'm not Etsy only....

  7. I would buy your work anywhere it was available!
I have no problem shopping at other venues, as long as paypal is offered.
I'll be interested to see what people think. I wonder if any of my readers have had trouble with my blogger blog. no one has mentioned it.
I do know that wordpress is a bit harder to navigate. They have it for the museum and I saw how to make a post in a demonstration. Its not the same. But if it has the ability to sell products there as well, I'd be interested in learning more. Do you know if there is a fee for wordpress?

  8. I'd follow you, but I feel more comfy in blogger...just the way it is for me. I'm more inclined to shop Etsy but if it's worth finding then I'll go anywhere. :)

  9. To answer a couple of questions:

I could combine my website with a blog AND sell a few things at the same time on my site.

    Wordpress has incredible SEO.

I am sick of Blogger glitches. can't tell you the number of times I've posted only to find that people aren't allowed to comment.

I don't want to only be tied to Etsy, although I'm not silly - even though I pay a king's ransom in fees, I get lots of organic customers. Therefore with my own shop I'm thinking of adding a twist. Trunk shows, etc.

I've had wordpress before and it's not really difficult.

  10. Lori I would follow you anywhere :) I also agree as long as there is Paypal I am there!

  11. I would still follow you! I think it would be awesome to have a shop connected to the blog. I've often wondered about that myself - maybe someday!

  12. Your really Up market and so Upbeat so I would follow you no matter where you go. I have no probs at all! Yup as long as Pay Pal is there!

  13. I'm with everyone else...as long as I can follow, I would stay with you and as far as shopping goes, I'm all over the net with PayPal! :) I think I'll check out Word Press also... I have a little shop page on my blog, but its way to limited...

  14. I don't have a problem purchasing from another venue. I have followed a couple of people in wordpress, and it is a little more difficult than blogger. Having said that, I'm already a follower, so I would definitely come along. And, 2 years ago, I didn't know anything about blogger, so I figure I can learn wordpress as well. :)

  15. My Dad's Mom had that saying painted and framed in her bathroom, although I don't remember Camus' name on the painting. That was burned into my memory as a child and I have always loved that quote.

Of course I would follow your blog and shop if it moved. Location is not always everything :)

  16. If you decide to move I will follow! I need my weekly Macro fix! :)

To be honest I have been thinking of doing the same, blogger is nice but wordpress seems to have more options.
Good luck with whatever you choose!

  17. I voted, and I would follow too. I have tried wordpress (twice) and didn't like it. I like the look and feel of blogger, and I had difficulty with wordpress, but I have noticed that many indy businesses (and major ones) use wordpress. I'm still trying to talk myself into moving to wordpress as it seems to be the next logical step.

You have great content, I heart macro (and couldn't do without it), and beautiful bags, so I'd go where you'd go. good luck!
